Book your spot on this day trip to South Lebanon from Beirut, and save time and money. Discover the sea castle built by the crusaders in the thirteenth century on a small island connected to the mainland by a narrow 80m long roadway. Visit Khan El Franj and the soap museum of Sidon, before heading to the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Explore Al Bass archeological site including the Roman hippodrome, the Necropolis, the ancient harbor of Tyre and the sea archeological site. End the tour in Maghdouche, and visit the shrine and the cave where Virgin Mary used to wait for Jesus while preaching.
The tour starts by picking you up from your hotel in Beirut, on any place of residence within Beirut city.
1st stop is Sidon City: Visit the ancient city of Sidon (Saida) and enjoy great fame in antiquity. The beautiful crusader castle was built around 1200 AD by crusaders. It is erected on a small island connected to the mainland by a fortified stone causeway located in front of the souk entrance. The structure is also interesting as the crusaders put granite Roman columns in the walls as reinforcements. Khan el Franj is a historic caravan seray, well restored. The building is well preserved. You can see how the trade and horseman, met and rested within these souk hall. Al Omari Mosque is by far the oldest in Saida. You will also visit the old authentic souks of Sidon.
2nd stop is Tyre city: The Old City of Tyre, also called Sour, is located south of Beirut.
It consists of many interesting ancient sites and attractions, that makes you deep dive into ancient history. The Ancient Ruins across the city of Tyre are incredible to discover: The Byzantine columns, the famous Roman hippodrome, one the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites, where Ancient civilizations held their major events such as Horse rides, remains of the cemetery, houses located underground, the old Sea Port, the small streets or alleyways, the Corniche, and the Roman archeological sites such as the Roman Baths, etc.
Then we will stop at a local restaurant in the region for lunch.

3rd stop: Maghdouche Village: Located in South Lebanon, Our lady of Mantara (or Our Lady of Awaiting) in Maghdouche is the place where Virgin Mary used to wait for her son Jesus during his voyage to preach Christianity in the villages north of Jerusalem. The basilica is enormous with a cavernous interior. More impressive is the tower that you can climb for a fantastic view. The original church is equally impressive for different reasons. It’s in a natural cave with a fantastic ambience.
Then we will get back to Beirut, and drop you off at your hotel.
